Some guys just can't handle Vegas

I HATE STAGS, especially stags in Vegas. Who came up with the idea to go and get completely shit faced before your wedding. It's never a good idea. At least we have five months before the wedding to clear the air but, I can't imagine marrying him a week from today being this annoyed with him. Don't get me wrong I am all about having a good time, perhaps too good of a time but I would never spend four grand in one day on booze. It wasn't just J it was all of the guys, like 8 I believe, but really? In one day?! It totally could be worse, yes....
And I am stoked to see the second movie. But ugh, J is not allowed to go on anymore Vegas trips with the "boys" this year anyway!! We have far too many events going on this year and spending that much money is ludacris. And the stories I heard don't have me to thrilled either. NOT HAPPY!

Needless to say he slept in the spare bedroom last night. :p I need to just keep reading my Is he the one? post from yesterday to make me feel better.

Is he the one?

Many people ask (mainly women) how did you know he was the one? I usually replied with it just worked, or you just kind of know. Thinking back now, that's not true at all. How can you just know? Yes it just worked, but there are reasons why.

Family means the world to me. I am so very close with my immediate family, grandma(s), grandpa, and the Saj's. Do I ever miss Sunday dinners. Pretty much every Sunday they get together at someones house and eat until they can't move. The girls get to sit at the table and the boys bring out the tv trays and watch sports. Every Sunday the energy is so different. That's probably the best part, seeing who is hungover, cranky/tired, hyper, excited, or calm. Ah I love my family and the food they make. J totally just fit in. Everyone loves him and that is so important to me. When I saw J's family dynamic, that just kinda sealed the deal for me. They are all just so loving and wonderful. I really couldn't be marrying into a better family. And it's not just his immediate family that is so lovely, it's his aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents that I just adore as well. Geeez I am one lucky gal.

Another "he is the one moment" was when I was working with my sweet Aaroni. Aaron and I hung out out all of the time, I got to help him at all of his wicked jobs, and Fridays were always the best. I would take him to meet up with his friends for lunch, or we would catch a matinee, or mini golf! Such a good time. Anyhow Aaron is a great cook, and wanted to show off his mad cooking skills to us. He was so pumped to have us over for dinner and unfortunately I ended up having to work that night. Aaron was a little disappointed but he understood that things come up. J didn't know Aaron all that well, and didn't know Aarons parents at all. But he didn't want Aaron to be upset so he went by himself to have dinner with Aaron, his respite worker, and Aarons parents. That totally melted my heart and showed me what a stand up guy he is. I am so passionate about giving people with disabilities the opportunity to lead a meaningful quality of life and he totally respects that and feels the same way.

I would say these are the two tops things that sealed the deal for me. I love him for so many reasons and we just really get along and make one another happy :D

P.S He will finally be home in a half hour.

April 16th

J went and bought his social outfit from H&M on Friday. It's so so so cute, he looks so handsome. It's not very dressy more on the casual side so I am making him wear either a bow tie or a skinny tie. We aren't going to be matching at all but that's OK! We will be wearing what we both feel comfortable in. Well I know he won't love the tie idea, he will just have to learn to love it :p. He also bought me a dress today, yesssss another dress!!! I can't wait to see it in real life, I can't really tell from the picture.

Holy crap, a week and a half until the social. I am so freaking excited I feel like I am going to barf at any given moment. ahhhh!!!! And it's almost sold out so all you Manitoba folks, if you haven't got your ticket go and get it. I want you there. My parents are all sold out so you'll have to get one from the wedding party. And ladies, wear a dress. Dress up and feel pretty with me. :D

Sweet Berry Wine!!

One of my most favourite Ottawa trip purchases would definitely be my wine journal from Chapters. I have been itching to get one of these for about a year now and finally found one!! I am definitely one of those people that goes into a liquor store and stands staring at bottles forever. I have tried 100's of bottles of wine and can never remember which ones I love. It makes trying new wines even more exciting! So now I can fill up that book of mine and basically become a sommelier ;) I only have two entries in it so far and they both haven't been very good ones. I'll let you know when this expert finds some beauts.

Until then I will leave with the one and only Dr. Steve Brule

Surprise!!!

I am totally being that girl, looking up my wedding dress every other day just to see if it's possible to love it even more. It is possible, I get more and more giddy and pathetic every time I see it. I want to show the world it right now but I can't ruin the surprise. Ugh I hate surprises!!! I'll give you a hint... it's one of these 75 Aire Barcelona dresses :p

Soup

I love experimenting with soups. You really can't go wrong unless you put to many mushrooms in a soup that's not meant to be a mushroom soup... ick! One soup that is definitely my go to is my vegetable soup. It's so easy, healthy and flavourful! I will never have soup out of a can again, nothing beats homemade anything. Try it out.

1 1/2 cups of cabbage shredded
2 cloves of garlic diced (prob only need one but I love garlic)
1 onion finely chopped
1 green bell pepper diced
4 potatoes diced
2 med carrots finely chopped
1 tomato chopped
2 celery chopped
a couple pinches of crushed red pepper
dash of salt and pepper
Chicken or Veg Broth. I find the chicken gives it more flavour.

Just put it all in one big pot and boil. As soon as it starts boiling turn it down to simmer. I have lost the juice many of times :p. Simmer until veggies soften, 45min-1hr.

Poor puppies

Both of my poor dogs are hurting units. We went and got Maple spayed last Tuesday so we have been watching her like a hawk to ensure she isn't licking at her sutures. I even put an old t-shirt on her at night so I know she can't get at it.  It has been so hard not being able to take both of my pups for walks as we are normally so active but I wanted Maple to heal as fast as possible. The past couple of days I noticed there was a bump forming at the top of her incision. I thought it was just part of the healing process. But, yesterday it started to puss at the bottom of her incision. The vet was traveling to our town on Tuesday but I didn't want to wait until then just in case the infection got worse. The vet gave me a topical cream to apply twice a day to help fight the infection. She has three layers of sutures and her body isn't breaking them down. I really hope they don't have to re-operate.

An hour after Maple and I got home, Maple, Lily and I were soaking up the rays on the back deck. Lily, was being such a good girl so I took her off her leash and she passed out on my lap. She heard something and went bolting off into the woods. I couldn't find her anywhere and kept calling out to her. I called J for moral support and then I heard these blood curdling cries coming from the woods.... my Lily. I followed the sounds and found her immobile and bleeding. She has some punctures on her left side from a coyote or another dog. She is pretty traumatized and has been shaking all night, she is having a hard time using both hind legs, poor thing. Needless to say another vet trip is in order tomorrow morning.

A couple of her wounds :(
