Eeyore

Another beach post, sorrryyy, well not really. These photos are from two days ago at the beach in front of our house. The weather was just above 0 and the dogs, J & I were loving it!! There are so many moose around lately because its easier for them to get around in the flats. We always leave our dog off leash at the beach this time of year as we are always the only ones on the beach. Seriously, where does everyone in our town hangout? Probably only an eighth of the town works this time of year. I NEED the beach daily. This time there was a young bull moose hanging out in the woods just off the sand. Our silly dog Maple loves to tease moose and I am nervous one day she is going to get a boot. You can't get her away from the moose, she gets in this crazy state and loves to just bark and annoy the crap out of the poor animal. Thankfully this bull was so young and so calm because Mapes was being extra annoying. We learned if we just run away Maple will chase after us. It was a good learning experience.

Hey guys, hurry up!!!

We got her back on leash and walked her back to the moose to try and get her used to him
lol

Big cutie

This one kind of reminds me of Eeyore

Poutine In Cheticamp

I made J drive me the 4 hours to go for some delicious poutine again :) I realize I could easily make this and save money in gas. But I promise the drive is totally worth it. That and it's fun to go to a restaurant every once and a while and not have to cook. The restaurants here don't open up until the end of May.

We were hoping to see huge mounds of snow along North Mountain but we don't have as much snow as last year. The Cabot Trail is just as beautiful in the winter as it is the summer. It was a little foggy on the way there but cleared up for our drive home (but it was already dark by then).

Baby & I were obviously really excited for POUTINE!!

The icebergs are coming in, still waiting for those baby seals to appear on the beach

Pictures don't even do this justice. I started crying I thought it was so gorgeous

Off The Grid in Goose Bay

J and I had an absolutely fantabulous weekend at Ski Tuonela. This place is truly a very special place. I had posted about it here last year. This year I opted to snow shoe up the mountain as the last time I spent half the time on my butt. Probably a safer option for me and the baby. This time we stayed over night with our friends Anne, Michee & Noah. Since I was a little nervous to ski around the hilly terrain I was FORCED to babysit Noah for a few hours :p. Omg, is he precious. The more I spend time with him the deeper I fall in love.

P.S I don' know if the humans or the dogs have more fun. It's seriously a dog heaven up there!!

Hi Noah

The boys did the cooking and the cleaning. The light above the sink is the only source of light. We used candle light and oil lamps. There is no power anywhere else. The bring you a tub of water for drinking and washing. And you use an outhouse. It's off the grid. I couldn't help but think about how people managed back in the day!!

Slumber party!! You don't get a heck of a lot of sleep with 4 adults, 3 dogs and a baby in one room

Chris (the owner) is clearly a dog lover, with two black labs himself. He plays his home made movies at night for the guests, which are comical and very interesting. His wife Annie and him have lead and continue to lead quite the extraordinary life. They sail all summer long and live at Tuonela in the winter. His most recent purchase is a glider where he enjoys to venture around Cape Breton.

One Step Closer

20 Weeks

We went to our ultrasound Friday and got to have a little peek of our sweet babe. Baby was dancing around like crazy so the tech was having a hard time getting clear shots. She snapped a cute one of the babe opening and closing the mouth. We both were totally amazed that we had created something so special together and at the same time a little weirded out that I grew a nose, eyeballs, bones, brain etc inside my body. Life is such an amazing/crazy thing. I'll show you a couple of the cute ones, some of them were just plain scary as our babe looked like an alien ghost thing. Oh and the tech gave us an awesome picture of both of the legs but after dissecting it for hours I have a pretty good idea of what we are having!! I will keep that to myself until the babe is born :D

OOOOOoooh I can't wait to hold those teeny hands
We had such a great day Friday. Got to see pictures of our baby, went for sushi, dragged J to The Vow (he loved it), and then went grocery shopping. Ahhh it's nice to be together. I missed having my partner in crime. However I ruined the day of course and blamed it all on J. It's my hormones I promise. J pointed out a kitten running around the busy grocery store parking lot right beside a busy road and I screamed "we need to pick it up!!!!" J then tried to explain how many stray cats there are and I burst into tears and told him he ruined my day. I screamed "WHY WOULD YOU POINT THAT OUT TO ME!?!?!" The crying definitely lasted a good half hour and I pouted the entire hour and a half drive home. Woooops!!!! We can now laugh about it, but I am sure that kitten lived with it's family behind the grocery store, that's what I have convinced myself to believe. :)

Back to baby, I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU. Your daddy and I love you so much already. Back when I was 11 weeks pregnant your dad kept playing a thousand years by Christina Perri over and over and over again. I thought he really loved the new Twilight movie a little too much. He had memorized the words and would dance in the kitchen nightly to this song. He in fact was thinking of you!!! Yep, you are going to be adored xoxo

Disguise

I am soooo happy J is back for a couple of weeks for way too many reasons. I will name just a few...

- I love him and love spending time with him
- He keeps me warm at night. That sounds totally cheezy and ridic  but seriously. Our upstairs is so cold at night and that extra body heat does wonders.
- I don't have to shovel.
- He lets out the dogs every morning while I stay cozy in bed.
- I don't have to cook every night. Cooking for one tends to get boring.
- He is a clean freak. So my house is always spotless when he's home :)
- We have so much fun together and I get to laugh with someone other than just at my self. He is also a big clutz so it's funny to watch him fall and run into things all day. I'm sick like that.
- He gets to come to the ultra sound tomorrow!! He hasn't heard the babies heartbeat yet so this will be extra special.
- I get to smooch him everyday
- When the fire alarm spontaneously likes to go off in the middle of the night, I won't be the only one running around in a frenzy.
- He takes out the trash

Yep, I am one lucky lady!!!

This rant stemmed from the other night when I was alone. Maple's leash got stuck around our outdoor fireplace. She kept barking and barking at something in the woods. So I went out to go and get her but was scared out of my mind when I too hear the rustling in the bushes. I was thinking either Moose or Coyotes. But the more worked up Maple got, the more the upset the animal in the bush got. Keep in mind it's pitch black out as I live in the woods. The animal that I can't see starts grunting like a bull, so I know this is a moose. I must go on a mission and run to my dog and quickly untangle her and run back to the house with her in tow, pregnant, with snow up to my knees. Ohhhhhh the life and times of hill billy Jenna :p The mission was a success. The moose only bluff charged us and Maple and I came out of it bruise/death free. Winning!!

When I got up in the morning to let the dogs out the silly moose was sleeping in our backyard. I snapped some pictures and her looks are deceiving. This animal was disguised as a beautiful angelic creature in the daylight but turns demonic at night, I swear.

Look at that dirty look!!

Quiet Moments

No matter how I feel, a stroll down to the ocean always takes me away to such a peaceful place!

I think this lil guy feels the same way :p
