Playdates

Most of Willows friends live a couple of hours away so it's so nice to catch up with them whenever we go into town! It's fun to see the different little personalities and how much they have grown. It's also nice to hang out with other mom's and talk mom stuff :)

We are super lucky that another one of Willows friends lives only a half hour away. And yep, it's ridiculous, we have only really had one play date. This summer will surely change that. Chels and I will be strolling those babes to the beach daily :)

Kennedy & Willow

I have a billion and ten pictures of Willow and her bff Finley from a weekend they came out waaaaaay back in February that I still need to post. How cute are these two?!

Girls Nights

We just had the greatest week filled with soooo many family and friends! It all started with a little girls night Willow and I went to at an old friends house. It was so nice to reconnect and see all the new little additions to our group.

The next night a group of girls and some of our moms went out for a fabulous dinner and than headed to The Nutcracker Ballet. I have always wanted to go and was super excited when my girlfriend Bre tossed the idea out there. We all had such a fantastic time and it totally got us in the "Christmasey mood".

After the ballet my best friend Bonnie, her mom Debbie, my mom and I snuck away to Baked Expectations and devoured some late night coffees/lattes and cake.

We probably over did it and felt like barfing after words but we had too much fun chatting and filling our faces.

Good Things

Three of my fave things are sushi, babies, & friends. We combined the three all in one night, uhhhmm the BEST! I have to admit, I am the worst sushi roller ever, J is pretty darn good I must say. I think I need to buy a kit so he can make sushi for me every time he comes home.

These pictures are prime examples of why I am not overly excited to move. Two of our friends just had babies in January & March. It would be really fun to be beach bums with them this summer :)

Getting green

Hope you all had a great weekend and was able to eat, drink, wear green & be merry. It's kind of fun being the sober person at outings now because it is fun to laugh at everybody else. I promised myself not to be one of those boring pregnant ladies who wants to just hibernate and stuff their faces. Well, living here there isn't much opportunity to do anything else to be honest lol. So when the opportunity arises to put on some heels and go dancing, I'm game. This St. Patrick's day I went to a girlfriends house and then  headed to our town pub for a bit. They opened for one night to get everyone out and messy. We had a lot of fun :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

I feel like I wasn't missing out
haha, def not

Off The Grid in Goose Bay

J and I had an absolutely fantabulous weekend at Ski Tuonela. This place is truly a very special place. I had posted about it here last year. This year I opted to snow shoe up the mountain as the last time I spent half the time on my butt. Probably a safer option for me and the baby. This time we stayed over night with our friends Anne, Michee & Noah. Since I was a little nervous to ski around the hilly terrain I was FORCED to babysit Noah for a few hours :p. Omg, is he precious. The more I spend time with him the deeper I fall in love.

P.S I don' know if the humans or the dogs have more fun. It's seriously a dog heaven up there!!

Hi Noah

The boys did the cooking and the cleaning. The light above the sink is the only source of light. We used candle light and oil lamps. There is no power anywhere else. The bring you a tub of water for drinking and washing. And you use an outhouse. It's off the grid. I couldn't help but think about how people managed back in the day!!

Slumber party!! You don't get a heck of a lot of sleep with 4 adults, 3 dogs and a baby in one room

Chris (the owner) is clearly a dog lover, with two black labs himself. He plays his home made movies at night for the guests, which are comical and very interesting. His wife Annie and him have lead and continue to lead quite the extraordinary life. They sail all summer long and live at Tuonela in the winter. His most recent purchase is a glider where he enjoys to venture around Cape Breton.

We love babies

I had such a great day yesterday and would love to share it with you!

It started off with a yummy blueberry pancake breakfast at my gf Catherine's house. Then we were off to the "big" city of Sydney to go to my Dr. appointment. It was +8C so that helped brighten our day.

This appointment I was really anxious for because I was hoping to hear my babies heartbeat for the first time!!! I was a little sad J couldn't be there with me but happy my friend Cat came for support and company :) The Dr. was feeling around with the doppler for a couple of minutes and being a concerned pregnant lady I was watching every single movement. She shook her head a couple of times and immediately I said "what? what? What's wrong?!" I was in panic mode. She said "If we can't find the heartbeat today, we will send you off for an early ultrasound. But we will keep looking for this stubborn babies heartbeat" After a couple minutes longer she moves the doppler closer to my bellybutton and finds it!!!! Ahhhhh the sound of relief, joy, excitement, LIFE, MY BABIES HEARTBEAT!!! What a special gift to have something so special growing inside of me. I can't wait for J to hear it. Now I am counting down the days until the ultrasound. I can only imagine how exciting that will be.

We had a forty minute time slot before quiet time to go visit Anne, Michee, and baby Noah at the hospital. So we raced over there and I was able to me the most amazing little man. Ugh I love him so much. They had a very healthy 7lb 8oz beautiful baby boy named Noah. It was so precious to hear & see how proud they are. They shared the moment of when they first met him and I can't wait to experience that for myself. All is well with them and they are hopefully coming home today. I can't wait to kiss and snuggle him some more.

Cat & I were starved and I was shocked to find out she had never had sushi. So we sped on over to the one and only sushi joint in Cape Breton, Oka Maki. They don't have a big menu but J and I go there every second time we venture into Sydney. We have found many rolls we love, I was excited to share the cooked ones with Catherine. She did pretty good with the chopsticks :p
