Come to the beach with me

I had such a great relaxing weekend! The weather was warm, the boats are being put into the water, we finally have neighbours again (summer home people are moving back in), and only a month away from work!!

On Friday I went to a girlfriends place for a wine and appetizer night. She introduced me to 10 of her friends who I have never met. They were all lovely and we had great chats. It's so funny because sometimes you feel as your the only people living in this town until nights like these. It was great to have some much needed girl time.

The rest of my weekend was spent playing on the beach with my pups. Oh and I finally had zumba yesterday, so I was able to feel like a fitness goddess for the rest of the day ;) We spent a couple of hours on the beach yesterday and today we spent 4 hours. J met up with us both days after he was done work. Nothing beats putting on your ipod, walking the beach and watching your pups have so much fun on a warm spring day. I have to keep them on there leash most of the way now as the summer home people are slowly starting to take down there boarded up windows and hang flowerpots and wind chimes. Maple and Lily are very friendly and curious and love to meet as many new friends as possible!! It was pretty neat yesterday, we had never wandered into our backyard forest before so we decided to go for a little adventure. Both J and I never realized there was a beautiful brook only a 100 yards away. Hello summertime beers as our feet cool off with fresh mountain springs.
You can't really make out the brook from this picture as we are quite high up. The trick is getting down the cliff into the water safely
Yesterday, there wasn't a soul on the beach except for us. Today there was one couple, but that's it. Where are you hiding people?

Hey sexy springtime beach wear! It's hard to man handle these overly excited pups when they see J after he is done work.

The boats are in!!!

Spring is that you?

We enjoyed a fabulous +10 day on the beach today!!! Maple has only been with our family for 3 days but she has adjusted so well. Lily and Maple are just the cutest together.

And to top the day off one of my dresses I ordered came in today :)

When 3 became 4

The weather finally allowed us to go and pick up our beautiful new addition, Maple!!! The poor girl was so terrified when her old momma was introducing her to us. She peed all over the backseat of her old car and was barking at us. She totally knew something was fishy. Maples old family was not able to give her the love and attention that she craved.

Our cuddly 7 month old golden retriever/lab

After a sad farewell Maples old momma wished us well and drove off. Maple calmed down instantly and nestled right into my arms. She is one big baby just like our Lily. The bumpy windy road that is the Cabot Trail was not helping Maples nerves by any means and she threw up all over the back seat. Thankfully we stopped in at Walmart and bought her a tonne of goodies as well as a blankie that caught most of the vomit.

We could barely wait to bring Maple home to introduce her to her new house and sister. We knew Lily would be very excited but not to sure about Mapes. Maple didn't like Lily at all!!! She was showing teeth, nipping and had her tail tucked right underneath her. We were starting to second guess our decision to get a second dog.

Thankfully it didn't take too long for the girls to warm up to each other and they have been following each other all afternoon. <3 We are sooooo in love with our newest family member she is so smart and sweet.

Views on a cloudy day

Yesterday we went for a little drive and walk to relieve ourselves from the cabin fever we have been suffering through. J went for his longest walk since the accident and felt really good, he didn't even have to nap afterwards which is great progress! We even got to go and visit Lily's pal Sprocket.

Here are a couple of wedding location shots we took on our walk...

One of the many beautiful views

J's freakishly large arms are great for self portraits
We are actually getting married right where the highest part of the snow is.

Lily and Sprocket on their playdate, yes I treat my dog like a human being <3

Lily loves Sprockets yard because she can roam around without a leash

And of course we end the day off at a moose crossing

Addiction

Puppies!!!! I fully realize that getting another dog soon is absolutely ridiculous but I can't resist. I NEED another one so bad. I have this sick addiction of looking up dogs any spare moment I have and yes I have a lot of free time. I have weighed out the pros and cons in my head so many times and there are a lot of cons but I only like to focus on the pros. :D

Pros:
  • I won't have to feel like I'm trapped in my own home as Lily and I are walking bait for all of the animals that frequent our area. With a bigger dog I will be a lot more confident when I walk down the road or play in my yard.
  • Lily has a friend to play with.
  • I have plenty of time to train the new addition
  • When I start work the dogs will only be home alone a few hours in the day because of our work schedules.
  • I love dogs
Cons:
  • We have a busy year ahead of us. A trip back home, weddings out of town and our own wedding. I will also start working again end of May.
  • A big dog equals a lot of dog food, a crate, leash, harness, toys, and vet bills.
  • At least a month of sleepless nights.
  • Even though J seems fully recovered he still needs rest. I can sleep in another room until he's all better :)
The first three are the 7 week old husky/shepherd mixes and the last one is a 6 month golden retriever/golden lab mix. How could you resist/pick?!?!
