House Hunting Trip

We just got back from an oh so fabulous house hunting trip to our future home. We spent oodles of time exhausting our minds searching for the perfect nest to call home. There were definitely a couple of promising ones but we have also thought about building. It's pretty sweet to have Jon's work provide us with a house (with four bedrooms, so visitors are welcome right away) until we find a perfect match for us, waterfront no less!

It was nice to see so many playgrounds for Willow and I to hang out at. Every other block had a play park and their were so many moms trotting around town with their babes in tow. They just recently built a gorgeous community centre with a jam packed schedule with all sorts of activities for all ages. It's great to see that people are very active in their community.

When we weren't exploring the community we spent lots of time at the beach and enjoying the scenic  hikes the island has to offer. Ohhh and the smells, how I've missed that salty air.

Needless to say I think we are going to be happy at our new little spot in the world.

So lush
These ancient cedars were aaaaaahhhh-mazing
I love that this kid loves nature just as much as her parents

My feet were so happy
The fog was so thick that our flight was delayed, we didn't waste our day at the airport. Instead found a sweet Provincial park to play in

Warren Lake Trail

These are the pictures from our 2km hike that turned into a 5km. It was nice to be out exercising and enjoying the fresh spring air with my favourites. We walked around a lake called Warren Lake, I was a little nervous as there were more than a few bear sightings there last year. And right about now they are hungry little things. I sang to keep them away (poor J)

A Crisp Spring Day

Hey friends, long time no post! I have been enjoying every minute of my husband being home. It's nice living with my bestfriend again!! I also have been head deep into The Hunger Games. After hearing so many of you rant and rave about it I had to jump on the bandwagon. I don't regret it one bit :p. I read the first book in one day, the second book in an evening and am now having a hard time with the third. I am finding it a little bit slower than the first two. J & I also saw the movie the other night and we both loved it, but of course the book was better.

Today J & I went on a little walk down Middlehead with our friends Anne, Michee & of course Noah. It was not a warm day compared to what most of you lucky bums are experiencing. But the sun was out and that was good enough for us.

I have hiked this trail probably about 50 times and it doesn't ever get old.

Give Us Money

We finally hiked up the beautiful Ski Cape Smokey Mountain, J had wanted to conquer this hike for quite sometime. It was quite steep and was quickly regretting agreeing to this madness, but the view was so worth it. Unfortunately, Ski Cape Smokey hasn't been running for years as they don't have money to do all the much needed maintenance it so desperately needs. However, a group of fantastic volunteers got half the hill going last year which is WONDERFUL for our sweet little town. Now we just need some more snow to get that going again!! Also, if you are really rich and are looking for a great investment, how about Ski Cape Smokey ;)

You meet the greatest people in the best places

J and I had just finished a hike (surprising?) and felt we deserved to finish the day off with some cold ones. Just as we we were about to pull away from the LC a car full of young people! people pull up beside us. J & I immediately knew they were tourists as we had never seen them before and they had an innocent look of desperation in their faces. They were wondering if anything at all was open... a place to stay? A pub? Unfortunately there aren't many options this time of year (as I have expressed a couple of times on this blog ;p) except for two little gems just after the mountain. We bid them farewell and wished them luck. As we drove away I thought, that was rude! We should have offered them a place to stay, the poor things. If I was traveling and ended up in a ghost town and a couple of people my age offered us a stay at their place I would be stoked. J wasn't too fond of the idea. He thought they were going to think we were weird and desperate, which is not to far from the truth anyhow. We found them at an abandoned B&B, pulled up and offered our place to them. They took our number and address down but ended up staying at one of the places on the mountain. A couple of hours later they showed up for drinks. Two Australians, One Irishman, and Two Canadians equals lots of booze, laughter, & fun. We went for a good old hungover hike up Franey the next morn where I definitely dry heaved a couple of times on the way up, classy. That's where we got to meet up with the German, he was too pooped to come out for drinks the night before. The four of them had only met a couple of days ago in a hostel in Halifax, and it seemed they had known each other for years. Ugggggh I want to travel again soon. Anyhow, J & I definitely fell in love with the gang. We hope that in their travels across Canada they do take up the offer to come visit us in MB. Conor you do have to meet your future wife Morgan sooner then later. It was a pleasure to meet you all, Happy Travels xoxoxoxxoxoxox

I guess the moral of this story is hangout in the parking lot of your local LC. You never know who you're going to meet :p
