Young @ Heart

J and I just watched one of the greatest films ever! It had us both laughing, crying, and singing. I am sure we will both be as feisty as these folks in our future. It's a must see.

Home sweet Home

Hey friends, sorry for my lack of blogging. I am having too much fun being back home in Manitoba. My week has been filled with spa dates, lunches, dinners, and socializing. I have so many stories to share, not so many pictures, unfortunately. Keep checking back :) I am off to dinner

Binge

So before my trip back home I thought at least a week before I would eat only healthy food and exercise like a mad woman. Well, I actually had planned on doing that three months before but that obviously didn't work out so well. I get out walking everyday and if I don't I go on the treadmill, but I eat junk habitually. If I ate healthy I am pretty sure I would have a decent bod as my body fluctuates so easily.

Tonight we had one of our fave friend couples over and we CHOWED down. I am so into making guacamole lately extra garlicky mmmm with some multigrain chips. Bbq'd chicken, cream cheese rolls, veggies, peanuts and too much beer were on the menu tonight!! The previous nights were pizza, burgers, penne, geeeez what am I doing to myself? I know everything is fine in moderation but these binges were NOT in any way in moderation.

Maybe if I eat healthy tomorrow my body will turn super fit by Friday?

P.S I don't have a dress to wear to my social yet. I am wearing my yellow  one to my shower on Friday. My other new one is way too short for my social, I would have to wear it too a non dancing event. And the dress J got me makes my cleavage go up to my neck, ew! So I will be in a mad dash for a fabulous dress the moment I touch ground in Winnipeg

Social = Dance

I didn't mention how good of a time I had at the Legion dance two weeks ago. Next dance I probably shouldn't get so tipsy before hand or else I'm going to have the town talking about what a drunk I am. They should have a dance once a month during the winter months rather then once every 3 months. It's so nice to get out and let loose, dress up, meet with friends and boogie on down. I was pretty disappointed I didn't have my tickle trunk of costumes with me. The theme was Too Poor to Go South, so beach wear. I love dressing up like a fool. In high school I used to have parties pretty much every other Friday (sorry mom and dad) and we would just start dressing up in whatever we could find. It just makes partying that much more of a good time. Anywhere else I would be wasting  spending too much money on ridiculous costumes to prepare for such a gala, but here we don't have the luxuries of too many places to spend such money.

The last legion dance was New Years, J and I spent dancing the night away with our neighbours we had just met. I was promising them baked goods and beers if they were too come over and spend time with me. Desperate? Maybe. This dance J was away in..... Vegas, and missed out on all of the fun. I had a few people over before the dance. We had some drinks, played snakes and ladders and got real acquainted.

Limbo. Check!

Hot potato with drunken adults. Check!

Girlfriends. Check!

Groovy dance moves and booze. Check!
The dance is just like a social. For those who don't know what a social is go here. I can't wait to have my very own social on Saturday. Pretty upset with myself that I didn't throw a theme in there as I LOVE dressing up. I just can't get over that I am having my very own WEDDING social. Especially in Stony Mountain, where I would frequently crash socials at the ages 16,17,18. This is going to be goood.

Come to the beach with me

I had such a great relaxing weekend! The weather was warm, the boats are being put into the water, we finally have neighbours again (summer home people are moving back in), and only a month away from work!!

On Friday I went to a girlfriends place for a wine and appetizer night. She introduced me to 10 of her friends who I have never met. They were all lovely and we had great chats. It's so funny because sometimes you feel as your the only people living in this town until nights like these. It was great to have some much needed girl time.

The rest of my weekend was spent playing on the beach with my pups. Oh and I finally had zumba yesterday, so I was able to feel like a fitness goddess for the rest of the day ;) We spent a couple of hours on the beach yesterday and today we spent 4 hours. J met up with us both days after he was done work. Nothing beats putting on your ipod, walking the beach and watching your pups have so much fun on a warm spring day. I have to keep them on there leash most of the way now as the summer home people are slowly starting to take down there boarded up windows and hang flowerpots and wind chimes. Maple and Lily are very friendly and curious and love to meet as many new friends as possible!! It was pretty neat yesterday, we had never wandered into our backyard forest before so we decided to go for a little adventure. Both J and I never realized there was a beautiful brook only a 100 yards away. Hello summertime beers as our feet cool off with fresh mountain springs.
You can't really make out the brook from this picture as we are quite high up. The trick is getting down the cliff into the water safely
Yesterday, there wasn't a soul on the beach except for us. Today there was one couple, but that's it. Where are you hiding people?

Hey sexy springtime beach wear! It's hard to man handle these overly excited pups when they see J after he is done work.

The boats are in!!!

Just another day in Cape Breton

Whoa! We have one little moose friend that frequents our area all of the time. In the past week it's been in our yard everyday.

Well today Maple got off of her leash while J was walking her and decided to go after the moose! J was right at the front steps when Mapes escaped and went for the attack. We were so nervous about Maple getting kicked and really hurt so J and I were calling and promising her treats. It didn't work so well. J decided to go after Maple, then the moose decided to charge at J. J had to bolt out of the way and off Maple and Ms. Moose go running down the road. The moose lost Maple and J quickly grabbed her. Wow what a scene!!!

Here is J and Maple walking back. He's just a little shooken up!!! Luckily nobody got hurt :)
